Constitution of the U.S.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances”.
The right to Freedom of speech is one of the most famous, and highly contested amendments of what is commonly known as the Bill of Rights, (1-10 of the amendments to the Constitution) and though they’ve been disputed many times, all of these rights, are just as highly regulated. (ie: cases of slander, liable, and defamation of character… and you can’t just holler fire in a crowded theater unless of course it is on fire)
While these above rights/regulations have been properly enacted in the form of laws, there is a much more insidious attempt at regulation of our first amendment rights that has been gaining more, and more momentum.
Over the last several decades, these PC regulations have been used to influence just about everything in our daily lives. They are continuously being foisted upon us by a minority of “We the People”, rather than a majority and most definitely sans the proper legislative process required for enactment as prescribed by the Constitution for as the rule of governance in the US.
What you find if you are to look at what the most common current premise of Political Correctness is today, you will find that it is a process by which…
“controlling/changing the language you can change the way that people think.” (Control of the people period, is implied)
… and by definition it is,…
“a term that refers to enforced language, ideas, or policies that address perceived discrimination against political, social or economical groups (“supposed protected classes”) These groups most prominently include those defined by gender, race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age and disability.”
“Historically, the term was a colloquialism used in the early-to-mid 20th century by Communists and Socialists in political debates, referring pejoratively to the Communist “party line”, which provided for “correct” positions on many matters of politics.”
Over time, from the early twentieth century to the present day PC has been used by the Left & the Right, Conservatives, & Liberals alike in an attempt to promote multiculturalism and identity politics, by forcing us to change our use of language to a culturally inclusive and gender-neutral manner.
For example: a PC description of my self would be…
“a vertically, athletically, follicley challenged, more experienced citizen of European decent, with a proclivity to listen to a uniquely American archaic music form, originating from the expressions of emotion, of pre civil war slaves.”
Translation: “A short, fat, bald, older, white feller, who likes to listen to the Blues”
The PC description, reminds me of the old poster of the comical picture of the “OSHA Approved Cowboy”
Humor aside, the darker side of the PC movement has most recently been seen, by the very large up tick in tort litigation brought by the bizarre perceptions of unsubstantiated insult to groups seeking reparations, and forced change (ie: the Washington Redskins name) filed by minority (size wise of the group) claiming to represent the whole. Basically a small group telling the rest of us (the larger group) what to do, whether we like it or not.
Even scarier, is Sen. Harry Reid, et-al proposing legislature, and avowing to make sure it passes no matter what, to amend the 1st drastically restricting the freedom of the press from expressing any ideas they as the congress (or party in power De Jure) don’t like. This is being done due to Harry and his buddies being angry about SCOTUS decision about the 1st, and campaign finance. (the Koch’s
Our rights have been over the last couple of decades, steadily, systematically, encroached on and regulated quietly by individuals flying along under the radar, enforcing an agenda aimed at greater and greater control of society… supposedly for our own good.
Oh by the by… history shows that the citizens of Germany, also did not realize their rights had been slowly encroached upon by ideologies and agendas, before the rise of the Third Rich…something to think about.
Next, part II of my missive… and as Paul Harvey is want to say…”the rest of the story!”
